Are you encouraging interaction on your WordPress site?

All website owners want two thing from their website – to build their reputation and gain new clients. Whether that involves selling more products of starting to build relationships with their potential future buyers, it all starts with building a rapport.

WordpressWhen it comes to getting known AND building client relationships, there’s some simple things you can do, that don’t cost money – and one of those is encouraging interaction on your WordPress site.

Have a social share bar

Installing a social share bar on your site is something you only have to do once – but it gives your visitors a super easy way to share what they like. Look to install something like the ‘Shareaholic’ plugin – you’ll get a professional looking toolbar and a variety of placement options.

Turn on comments!

There are a surprising number of small business owners who want to build client relationships, but give their website visitors no way to interact with them because they’ve turned off their comments box!

If you’re getting inundated with spam comments, install a spam filter (such as Akismet). If you get embarrassed by the lack of comments, work on your content and sharing your links and, if you get fed up with comment notifications from your site – change your mindset and attitude to them.

Add a call to action to every post

Writing relevant and useful content for your visitors is a great start to building your expert status AND it encourages visitors back to your site. However, if you’re not adding a call to action on every post, you may be missing a trick. Encouraging readers to act on what they’ve read will help them cement in what they’ve learnt AND, if that call to action involves leaving a comment on your site, it gives you an opportunity to further build on that relationship with them.

Make all images ‘pinnable’

Adding visual elements to your WordPress posts will not only make them more appealing, it also gives your visitors an added opportunity to share what they like – which also means sharing YOUR site further afield. This can be done simply and easily by using the free and/or pro version of the Pin It plugin.

Add tweetable quotes to your posts

Adding tweetable quotes to your posts gives you the opportunity to really pinpoint the pertinent points of your post. The http://wordpress.org/plugins/click-to-tweet-by-todaymade/Click to Tweet plugin not only makes them look pretty, is makes the whole thing super easy to do too!
