Do you get overwhelmed with all the choices available when building your online business?
It seems like there are endless possible ways to set up your sales and marketing funnels, or your online course or…, fill in the gap for your business.
The truth is, there is no one best way to do anything. And I mean anything.
Let me digress a minute… Would you imagine that there is one (and only one) way to bring up your children, choose a car or decorate your house. Sounds crazy doesn’t it?
Of course there are different ways to do everything. There are so many options. If we go back to choosing a car, you might take in to account budget, safety ratings, number of seats, doors etc. Do you have a dog to fit in…well, you get the picture.
So, why do we think that there’s only one way to set up your online systems?
Applying the same thinking we use with other important decisions we might go through the following thought process:
- What are you trying to achieve? Getting new leads, establishing your authority, selling a course etc…
- What budget do you have? There are always (sometimes hourly!) new shiny tools on the horizon. Some are better than others. Some are cheaper in the short term but monthly fees add up over time – something like this would be good if you aren’t sure that your course is going to sell for example, also good for rapid/ split testing. Other options are more expensive in the short term but once built cost little to maintain so are better if you are more certain that you are going to keep it long term.
- Your technical ability – this goes hand in hand with your budget since if you don’t have the technical expertise to build a sales funnel, for example, from scratch then you have a choice of paying an expert to do it for you or using some tools that offers an easier way.
- What do you have in place already? You do need to make sure that all the parts of your process play nicely together. No point building a sales funnel that doesn’t talk to your preferred autoresponder system!
The truth is that there is no magical ‘one way’ to set up your online systems. But, there is a shortcut through all of this; once you know what you want to achieve and your priorities, speak to someone who has experience of lots of systems and tools and then trust that their way will work. Don’t get distracted by shiny things!
