I’ve written before about using Twitter for your business. One thing that people are always saying to me is that they wouldn’t have the time to Tweet all the time. I have to say I don’t spend a lot of time on Twitter myself. I use it selectively and I use tools to help me use it effectively. It is after all just another tool.
Here’s how I use it. It isn’t the only way to use Twitter or necessarily the best way but it works for me at the moment.
1. I schedule some tweets using Social Oomph! (don’t you just love the name??) This way I can write a
whole load of tweets that will then appear during the day or even over the course of a few days.
2. I also use the same service to monitor mentions of my username so I know when people are re-tweeting me or replying to my tweets. This saves checking my account all through the day as I knwo that if a message comes in I will pick it up later in the day.
3. I have an app on my iphone called Tweetie which allows me to access my twitter account on the move. I use this mostly to just quickly check before i finish for the day but mainly when I’m travelling – on the train not in the car! It’s a good way of whiling away the journey to London!
If you’re still not sure give it a go and see what is happening out there in Twitter land. Yes, there is a lot of time wasting but it can also be great for finding out new things that are going on and getting ideas as well as generating business.
